Tuckahoe State Park near Denton, MD

Camped hear in early August. Seems like good biking, fishing, kayaking, hiking. Close to Adkins Arboretum. Site 17, or any site on that outside loop good. We were in Site #1, also OK. No water hook up so bring full tank.  We didn't do mucy (or anything) we just sat and read and napped and ate!

Labor Day 2008 - Rehoboth

This Labor Day weekend was much anticipated, and it did not let us down!

We had a full cohort at the beach house which always adds to the fun.

  

Labor Day weekend is always the Sundance Festival, a huge party hosted by the Rehoboth LGBT organization, CAMP Rehoboth.

Saturday night was the fundraiser auction.  The Rehoboth Convention Center was filled with donated items for the silent and live auctions.  There was terrific food, and as the night proceeded to the live auction, we saw how the open bar helped the fundraising.  The bidding was lively, alcohol-fueled, and generous.  The next day's hangovers were sure to have been accompanied by some aches in the checkbooks. Donna & I were pretty conservative, and bought a dinner for four at a local restaurant.

Sunday also had many events on the agenda. Topping the list was the not-to-be-missed Annual Drag Volleyball on the beach! Scheduled for "about 1pm or whenever we all wake up' it took place on Poodle Beach. Just go to (where else) the Queen Street beach entrance and there it was!

The two teams entered the courts costumed, and each team performed several dance routines or skits.  Notably, one team was the FLDS mothers, carrying their babies.  Their captain was Joan Crawford who was instructing them on parenting skills. The game did finally get started after the skits, with the teams playing in full costume.

We left the game early because watching them made us too hot, and we required cocktails!

We met some interesting gentleman on their way to the game.

There was a Sundance dance Sunday night, but we defaulted to something calmer - belly dancing and drumming on the beach at sunset.

 

It was a great weekend jammed with lots of fun and friends.  However, we were exhausted by Sunday night, and really needed Monday to recover.

We just can't wait until our next weekend at the beach!

 

Milton Days

This past weekend in Delaware was a mix of an inland festival and biking the Junction-Breakwater trail from Lewes to Rehoboth.

Milton was hosting the annual canoe and kayak race from Lewes, up the Broadkill River, to Milton. This was combined with a shopping event, Bargains on the Broadkill, that happened in the park next to the river.

Typically, we arrived late and missed the flush of paddlers crossing the finish line, but in time to see the folks like us (stragglers) arrive.

Like most events in Milton it was food, family and dog friendly

We shared Saturday with Sharon and Tully

and on Sunday Donna and I went on to do a little biking along the trail

We never tire of the changes that we see there from week to week.

As this is our favorite season here, we will be trying to be in Delaware as much as possible.

Lot's of people will be coming to visit us here. You should, too.
